The German cockroach has spread around the world through shipping.
Eggs come in cases with 38 eggs in each. The female drops each one close to food just before they hatch. Mating only once she can make seven cases in her lifetime. With a good environment, incubation is 17 days and adults can be fully developed six weeks later. The nymph moults several times. Adults live 125 to 150 days. Two or three generations can live in a home per year.
The German cockroach grows quickly in a warm, moist environment. Therefore, it lives in kitchens and other rooms like bathrooms. It feeds on a wide variety of stored food which may have fallen undetected.
